Terms of Service

Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using Stratus Transit ("Stratus," "the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the app. Stratus is operated by CloudPath LLC ("we," "us," "our").

Service Description

Stratus displays real-time CTA L train departure information adjusted for your estimated travel time to nearby stations. The app helps you determine which trains you may be able to catch based on your current location and travel pace.

Not Affiliated with CTA

Stratus is an independent application developed by CloudPath LLC. Stratus is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). Train departure data is provided by CTA's public Train Tracker API and is displayed as-is.

Data Accuracy and Limitations

Departure times displayed in Stratus are estimates provided by the CTA Train Tracker system. You acknowledge and agree that:

  • Train arrival and departure times are estimates, not guarantees.
  • Trains may be delayed, cancelled, rerouted, or run on modified schedules without notice.
  • Travel time calculations are approximate and depend on factors including your pace, route, weather, and terrain.
  • The app's determination of whether you can "catch" a train is advisory only.
  • Service alerts and elevator outage information are provided by CTA and may not reflect real-time conditions.
  • Do not rely solely on Stratus for time-critical travel decisions.

Subscriptions

Stratus offers optional premium subscriptions that unlock additional features. By subscribing, you agree to the following:

  • Pricing: Monthly ($2.99/month) and Annual ($19.99/year) plans are available. Prices may change with notice.
  • Free trial: New subscribers may be eligible for a 7-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will be charged for the selected plan.
  • Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
  • Payment: All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. CloudPath LLC does not handle payment information.
  • Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription at any time through Settings > Subscriptions on your device. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are provided.
  • Refunds: Refund requests are handled by Apple per their refund policy.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose
  • Interfere with or disrupt the app's servers or networks
  • Scrape, harvest, or redistribute data obtained through the app

Intellectual Property

Stratus and all associated content, design, and code are the property of CloudPath LLC. CTA train data is the property of the Chicago Transit Authority and is used in accordance with CTA's developer license agreement. Data provided by Chicago Transit Authority.

Service Availability

We strive to keep Stratus available and functioning, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The app depends on CTA's Train Tracker API, which CTA may modify or discontinue at any time. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue Stratus at any time without notice.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CloudPath LLC and its officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Stratus, including but not limited to:

  • Missed trains or transportation connections
  • Inaccurate departure times or travel estimates
  • Service interruptions or data unavailability
  • Any decisions made based on information provided by the app

Stratus is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CloudPath LLC and the Chicago Transit Authority from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the app or violation of these Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Cook County, Illinois.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of Stratus after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
